I am Thirsty

There have been many references to water and thirst over the last several weeks. We have seen massive earthquakes in Haiti and in Chile. These natural disasters led to the lack of water in that area. No one understands thirst like the people in these areas. No one knows thirst like being lost in a desert and your lips are parched and your tongue is so dry that you can not swallow your own spit. Our bodies are amazing and can endure more than we realize. However, we can not go without water for a long period of time.

Water is what all life is made of and what all life must have to continue to live. Your body is thirsty and needs water long before your brains gets the message and sends it out. When water is abundant, it is taken for granted. Once it is scarce, we would give anything and everything to get just one pure clean glass of refreshing water.

It is the same for spiritual water. You may not even know that you are thirsty. You may not even know that your soul is longing for something and can't quite get satisfied. Or, maybe you do know. You just haven't had time to take care of the thirst. Perhaps, you don't know how to quench the longing deep in your soul. Our bodies, souls, and minds are connected. The soul is the most important and usually the most neglected.

The Jesus says in the Bible in John 7:37, 38 " ...If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scriptures has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."
The Bible also states in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

God, Himself, the Creator of the universe knows you better than you know yourself. The longing in your soul, the need that can't get filled is your soul is calling out for the love of the Father. Your soul wants to be united with its creator. God knows that you need Him. He knows because He created you. Most of all He loves you.  God loves you so much that God, Himself, sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to earth so that your thirst could be quenched. Now is the accepted time for salvation. Now is the time that you can get a clean soul refreshing spiritual drink of living water.

Here is a prayer for you. It is a prayer for you to accept God's Son. He will become living water for you soul and will become a part of your life forever. It will only work if you believe. The Bible says, Romans 10: 9, 10 " That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that you confess and are saved."

Please repeat this prayer: Lord Jesus, I am saying out loud that I want you to be the Lord of my Life. I want your living water. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior of my body, mind, and soul. I confess that I have sinned. I confess that I am need of you. Thank you. Amen.

If you meant what you said then you my friend are now filled with the everlasting water that never shall run dry. We call this water the Holy Spirit. Welcome to the family!

Love, Love, Love

Valentines' Day is a day that many think of love, romance, and self-worth. It can be a really wonderful time or it can be a time of stress. This month many people are thinking about love and wanting to express how they feel about a significant other. Or, maybe they are waiting and wanting someone special to remember them or even notice them. I was trying to think of the best love story that I could come up with to share with you.

As I thought of love, I of course, thought of God himself.  He showed me once that His love for me is not based on me.  I have nothing to do with it.  I am the object of His affection.  Nothing that I do or say can ever change that. Whether I am really good or whether I am really bad.  I thought, "Lord, how can this be?" The best example that came to me is about a diamond.

It was impressed upon my heart that a diamond is still valuable even if no one has discovered its worth. Diamonds are found in coal and have to be extracted so that all the view them will then see there beauty. God sees us as beautiful even if no one else can see us. He knows that we are very valuable and precious. No one has to place a worth or value on the diamond for it to become valuable. It was already valuable before anyone discovered it. Even with its black coal surrounding it. It is still valuable because of what it is. You and I are God's diamonds.

A friend of mine explained it like this. She says that she received this explanationg from a pastor of hers. She said take a $100 dollar bill. She said to crinkle it up into a small tiny ball. She then said to drop the ball into the mud. Is it still worth a $100? The answer is of course, "yes". Neither the wrinkles, nor the mud changed the worth of the $100. It is still a hundred dollars.  The same is with you.   No matter what happens to you, or how you look, or even what you do can change how valuable you are to God.

How much more does the God of the universe love you? He loves you so much that He wants you to get to know Him. He will never ever leave you. Even when friends and family have let you down, you will always have the one that exist in the purest form of love. God loves you! God is waiting and desiring for you to love Him, also. You are more valuable to him than a billion diamonds or even a billion dollars. Whether you decide to love Him, will not change how He feels about you.

If you decide not to love Him.  I tell you this, that you will miss out on an opportunity for your soul to come alive. You can be apart of the greatest and the best true love story ever told.
God loves you. Give your heart, your Valentine, to Him and experience the greatest love of all!

For God so loVed the world
That He gAve
     His onLy
      BegottEn
           SoN
                                 That whoever
         Believeth In Him
                  Should Not perish
                      But have Everlasting life

                                           John 3:16

THE WATER IS MORE THAN ENOUGH

While the Israelites were in the desert, God let water flow from an unlikely source, a rock.
Exodus 17:6 “...Strike the rock and water will come out of it for the people to drink.”

A rock is barren, hard, and desolate. Water is the opposite of the rock, it signifies life. The water was to sustain life for the Israelites. Why would life come from a rock? Why did He choose a rock?
I believe He chose a rock because He and only He could get the glory from His miracle.

God gave Sarah a child when she was well passed child barring years. Her uterus was closed tight like a rock. There was no soft place for an egg, for life. She could not hold water to sustain life. She was dried up like a rock.
But God waited to perform His miracle when He and only He could get the Glory. When God in His perfect timing, delivered His miracle to Sarah, Sarah said after her child was born, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me”. Her joy flowed like water.

All around Sarah got wet with the miracle. All around her experienced it, the life water. Their joy flowed, also. God’s water is still flowing through that miracle. The water never stops. It never dries up. It continues to flow today. It has been flowing through the ages and has reached us today. We are still getting wet from the water that flowed from God through her rock, her hard spot. God blessed Sarah’s dry place with fresh flowing living water.

Christ came from Abraham and Sarah’s baby, Isaac. We can know God, Him self because Jesus was born a direct descendant of Isaac and God the father. Isaac was the water that flowed from God to Sarah and now it has reached us. It shall continue on long after we are gone.

God told Peter that upon this rock I will build my church, Matthew 16:18. Everyone knew that out of all the disciples that Peter was the one least likely to be chosen for the job. He wasn’t soft; he was brash, bold, and quick to act without thinking. Why Peter? Peter was chosen because once God works His miracle all would know that the miracle was from Him. The miracle could only be from God himself. No one could take credit.

Once God took His water and delivered it to Peter, the one who denied him three times. It not only flowed but it multiplied. People began to get wet and their joy flowed. Each person carried the water to another and others began to get wet. Today we can swim in the ocean, the water that came from Sarah and her rock. It found Peter and now it has reached us. It is abundant it is free and there is plenty for all to be drenched. It is alive and searching for someone willing to let it flow through them. It wants to take your hard places your rocks, your trials. It wants to take the sadness and the depression and make it into joy, into life so that all will see God and His goodness.

God wants us to laugh like Sarah. He wants us to experience His joy. God wants us to be contagious with His love, His life, His abundant water. The world should be swimming and splashing in His water. It is up to us to continue to let it flow. We have to be willing to let it flow. We have to let it break through. There is no place, no hard spot, and no crack that it can not flow from.

In my own life and yours, God will take the hard place the rocks, the rocks with the cracks, the holes and the broken pieces. He will bring forth His water. He will bring forth life flowing water. I will be satisfied and my thirst for Him shall be quenched. When I go though hardships in life, God wants to work His miracle, then all shall see that He and only He worked the miracle. I too will say, like Sarah, God has made me laugh. He has turned my sorrow into laughter. I shall praise and dance before my King. All who see me shall say that the Lord of the Universe the God of Heaven has turned her rock, her sorrow into water that flows. I shall dance like David. I shall sing for I can’t be silent. I shall run and not grow weary. When it is time I shall lay me down and have a peaceful rest for the waters are also calming and peaceful.

The water shall be satisfying. The water is more than enough!
